They need to hire actual artists again, and have them use color to paint an action scene from the book on the cover.

Generic photoshoot art, or arty but uninformative, just isn't cutting it.

I haven’t watched this show but I think I feel this secret. I’m always thinking about how romantic subplots are unnecessary and annoying, and then I turn around and ship all the characters like I’m FedEx.

Partly. I don’t tend to pick up a book if the cover doesn’t interest me. (I know there’s a saying about that, but still.) The other main reason is that I’m admittedly pretty immature.
