I wish guys would stop always turning the attention back to them when there's a legitimate point made about how women are treated.

Dude, that's not what they're doing. They're pointing out that male characters can be written just as badly and suck just as hardcore as people say female characters are. It's nothing to do with ZOMG MEN SUFFER TOO!!!

Sucky characters are sucky characters no matter how you slice it.

I'm another random person chiming in but... there is a clear discrepancy in a lot of things. There are of course going to be badly written males as well but I can guarantee that the women are neglected a lot more in media. I was discussing this with a large group of writers the other day, and even female writers feel that they must work with male characters more or hide the fact that they are female to gain a more serious kind of attention. There are a few females that have been fortunate enough to be recognized doing work about women by women, but it is still a large problem particularly in media.
