No one gives a shit because the last thing the internet needs is MOAR ZUTARA.

There's nothing wrong with Zutara but it's everywhere. People want a fucking break sometimes and part of the point of kinkmemes is to do something else that you don't do most of the time.

Most of fandom does Zutara most of the time.

Don't take it personally lady.

Srsly, every time I go looking for decent zutara fic, I can't find any that is remotely in-character.

If there's so frickin' much of it, at least SOME of it should be good, right?

I have never read an IC Zutara fic and I used to read a lot of fic.

That part of fandom became really toxic really fast to people who didn't do the exact same thing they were already up to. And they ran around being awful and telling everyone else their ships sucked. Not classy.

My friend had a fantastic, thoughtful, IC Zutara fic all planned out but decided not to write it. She just didn't want to be a part of that.

I'm the same way.

The problem is that many (not all) Zutara shippers don't actually seem to like the show or the characters very much if at all. They hate half the cast. How can you write good fic for a canon you don't respect or even pay that much attention to?

This is what I have feared. Fandom batshittery has kept me away but I still had hopes for fic, which I suppose I should abandon.

This makes me sad, because I like Zutara, but I also like Kataang and Maiko and Sokka and Suki, basically I ship everything on Avatar. I don't want me liking Zutara to lump me with the crazies :(
