Female characters are poorly written in most cases. If you don't think so you've not sat down and seriously thought about it.

I can't watch most TV because the writers' ignorance and prejudices almost always show through. Take a media criticism course and see if you still feel like female characters are well rounded and more than just tools for the male characters.
