If you ship legos, I don't know what to tell you.

“Sibling coded” what the fuck.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-21 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone with a little brother, I think a lot of people tend to overestimate how close a lot of siblings are.

+1

I’ve seen my brother twice in the last 25 years or so. I wouldn’t recognize him in a crowd. There’s no animosity between us, we just don’t have any reason to be in touch.

People say their best friend is "like a brother/sister" but no one ever says their sibling is like their best friend.

(I talk to my brothers once a month maybe.)

What is this and what is going on?

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
You're better off not knowing.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-21 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like anything that's going on here

Don't like it one bit

I mean there are certainly ways a creator can write characters to be 'like siblings' even when they're not related, but I've got no idea if that's what 'sibling coded' is trying to refer to or if it's something else bizarre.

Is anyone in Hermitcraft-extended-circles really sibling-coded? They're grown-ups with grown-up friendships. Maybe Joe and Cleo? But they come off more as Cool Uncle and Cool Aunt than anything.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen it mentioned for Grian and Pearl (though I haven't seen their pre-Hermitcraft stuff, so I'm not sure), and definitely for Gem and Fwhip.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen much Empires outside the crossover (where Gem and Fwhip didn't really interact much) or any of Grian pre-Hermitcraft, but I believe you! Grian and Pearl don't seem particularly more sibling-y than anyone else in Boatem though.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
In season 1 of Empires, Gem and Fwhip were assigned-sibling-by-famom, by virtue of their teaming-up, trouble-making, and both having red hair. By the end of the season, they'd both incorporated the idea into their character backstories (ie, sharing a finale, and Fwhip's castle having two thrones)

Agreed on Grian and Pearl as of Hermitcraft, though apparently the idea predates Pearl's invitation and probably Grian's too.

I don't watch Cub either, but I do watch Scar, and nothing that man does is "sibling-coded".

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I hate the term "sibling coded." There is no such thing. Either they're actual siblings or they aren't. If they remind you of the way you and your siblings act, fine, but it's still not being "sibling coded." They'll still be completely unlike someone else and their siblings.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I would normally agree with you, but MCYT is a special case, in that Tommy's superpower is becoming literally everybody's adopted younger brother within five minutes of meeting them. (Also people on DSMP sibling-code themselves in the lore.)

(Anonymous) 2023-01-22 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
They don't "sibling-code", they straight up call each other siblings if they so choose.

And Tommy's skill is, more specifically, roleplaying the "annoying and eager little brother" so well and so consistently that others find themselves playing along really easily.
