A lot of people normally don't want concrit...? I think it's a matter of people saying they do to look good and or thinking they can handle it, but when they do receive it...they fly off the handle because they just want praise and don't usually get someone not kissing their ass.

I say look for people who are asking for it (like in this thread), instead of randomly hitting up people with it.

You do have a good point (about giving feedback for people who honestly want it). In my defense, a lot of the people I review DO ask for criticism. Can I really be blamed if they don’t really mean it?

As for your suggestions, my problem is that I only have an interest in seriously commenting on things I'm already interested in reading. (Unless it's for a friend, in which case, it can be boring as hell but I’ll trudge through it.) Hence, leaving reviews for my current favorite fics.

No, definitely not. I think you might avoid some people flying off the handle, either way, by being more...tactful; being harsh is something some people do need or even want, but it isn't always received well. I know the usual argument for this is "well, when these people get real editors..." Not everyone is really in it to become professional, and some see it as a matter of when they get to that, they get to it or whatever. So try being nicer? :
