What part of the country do you live in? The documents I would need to do my taxes won't even be mailed to me for at least a month yet.

Midwest. Got My w2 on Monday and filed that night. Mine are simple.

I feel bad for the Americans, that seems like such a PITA! I just sent my 2023 tax document to the office and told my union it's okay to slice their membership fee out of my wage. So easy! (Not as easy for entrepreneurs but that's one reason it's not the life for me)

Curious- is there any other country where citizens file their taxes? Ours are done automatically by the government.

you have to file yourself in the uk if you're classed as self employed, otherwise it's mostly PAYE

(i could get more money if i switched to working as a contractor but sorting out the tax myself does not appeal)

In Canada you've got to file your taxes.

I haven't gotten a refund in nearly a decade. So long as my husband and I continue with these salaries, refunds will never happen.
