Mercy Thompson is so not like the other girls she's not even like the other magical (werewolf) girls. It has all the werewolf pack dynamics that annoy me.

I love them and I'm already at the eighth book. Besides, in contrast to Kitty Norville, they didn't kill the gay best friend and have a big no homo moment when a girl vamp wants to eat the MC.

I doubt I'm going to quit reading them, but damn, is this ever a series that I can't recommend to other people without a dozen qualifiers. It would be like recommending Birdemic to people and telling them it's an ecological thriller with no other information, only if Birdemic had a random rape scene in the middle of it for no particular reason.
