Smallville has both a ton of hurt/comfort and angst fic. Similar to some of your previous watches too.

Thanks! I think I saw the first season of that when it aired originally!

MCU

Kill Strike Trigger/ Drowning Wasps by by llethe : Cap-Quartet, whole lot of hurt and some eventual comfort. Very long, completed, and beloved by me.

Blue-Eyed Matador by Flamingo Queen : fucking oodles of hurt, so much, eventual healing. Very long, work in progress.

Out of the Dead Land by an orphaned account : once again Bucky is the hurt one I have a *type*

Oh. Wait. You're asking for fandoms that aren't the ones you listed. Fuck. Shit. Uh

Marvel Comics
Handling it professionally by MedeaV for MissMorwen : straight fuck or die porn but there is *such* hurting and *some* comfort

Mad Max Fury Road
Blood, Coffee, & Motor Oil by underwater_owl (Restricted) : modern coffee shop au of Mmfr, where everyone is healing from past violence/trauma.

Jfc I really failed my perception check.

Fandoms to recomend: Marvel Comics, DC comics (especially bat!fam) and they're pretty easy to get into if you've ever seen a super hero movie. Lotr/the hobbit books/movies are big and have a bunch.

Thanks! I am vaguely in DC (I like Jason Todd). I've also read some hobbit fic but not much lotr. I'll give them a look.

Stranger Things - has a pretty good wiki (https://strangerthings.fandom.com) if you don't want to watch the four short seasons (34 episodes all together), though the season four eps are longer.

Hawaii Five-0 (2010) - has ten seasons, but honestly, watching a couple of episodes and reading the summaries for the rest would probably work fine

Merlin (2008) - there are five seasons and 65 episodes, but I don't think you need to watch the whole series

9-1-1 - It's on the sixth season right now, but I don't think you need to know much to get into the fic, which feels like it's wall-to-wall hurt/comfort

DCU - so much canon, but I would be shocked if you hadn't seen some of it. There's a lot of fic and I dip into it every once in while, and despite my scattershot viewing/reading of canon, I don't usually get lost

I went from Buffy to SPN to Stranger Things.

The Sentinel: 90s sci fi cop procedural. Jim is an ex vet cop who develops vaguely mystical super senses, Blair is the young hippie anthropology student who knows how to help him. Blair helps Jim with his senses by solving crimes with him and doing his PhD on him. Apparently this is fine with both the university and the police department. (???) At some point Blair almost dies because Jim betrays him for another Sentinel but is revived when Jim's spirit panther literally jumps into his spirit wolf. (???) At the end of the series the core tension of how Blair is going to publish his thesis without outing Jim is resolved by Blair holding a public press conference saying he is a fraud and that he made the whole thing up. This is fine. (???)

As you might imagine from this description, the fandom is 99% slash, and 90% of that is hurt/comfort fix it fic relating to one of the latter two plot points. The other 10% is BDSM Sentinels are known AUs, but that's another topic for another time.

I SECOND THIS RECOMMENDATION

You could try some Suits fic (Mike/Harvey). You literally only need to watch the first episode of the show and you're pretty much good to go. It's not a huge fandom, but it's medium-sized, and I feel like there's a decent amount of H/C with hurt!Mike.

It probably goes without saying that you can pick one of the popular Harry Potter ships and have content for years. The only HP pairing I've personally read fic for is Drarry, and I definitely feel like there is a lot of H/C and H/C adjacent stuff that deals heavily with trauma and healing for both the characters. (Most Drarry fic I see on AO3 is post-war, with a Draco who is either reformed or in the process of reforming, if that makes any difference.)

It's shonen anime, so might not seem like it would fit into your general likes, but I recommend My Hero Academia. The plot (at least for the first few seasons) is basically super hero high school, so there's early Buffy/ Teen Wolf/ Harry Potter vibes, and then there's a ton of fic set with the characters as adult superheroes, so you've got the MCU vibe there as well.

My personal fave pairing is Baku/Deku. Izuku Midoriya (Deku) is the main character, and Katsuki Bakugo is his childhood best friend, middle school bully and high school rival. Katsuki's canonically a competitive angry asshole, Deku is canonically a sweetheart who tries his hardest and sees the best in everyone, including Katsuki - cue an avalanche of 'I don't deserve someone like you' hurt/comfort pining fic (on both sides).

But it's a huuuuuge fandom with a huge cast of characters, so if B/D isn't your thing there should be something else for you. And you really only need to watch a few episodes (20 mins each) and/or read character summaries to work out who's who.

Sandman's eponymous main character spends the first episode naked in captivity and there's tons of hurt/comfort fic just based on that.

I'm into Dream/Hob, which is a) slash, b) has tons of hurt/comfort, and c) if you go solely by the show, based on half an episode of interaction, and if you watch the whole of that episode it'd give you enough canon info to get on with most ship fic.

I read the comic series years ago and while I love it, it's darker tonally than the show and one change they made to the timeline for the show gives the Dream/Hob ship a lot more oomph.

But since the show hasn't gotten that far in, Hob shows up more in the comics, although if you go looking for them before reading the whole run, his other appearances get spoilery quick.

I'm normally a hetshipper and the actor playing Dream has chemistry with everyone, including his loyal librarian Lucienne and snarky street magician Johanna Constantine who were both genderflipped for the show. And with his ex, who wasn't.

But also with his murderous gay creation the Corinthian, shippy Frankenstein/Creature style, with (Gwendolyn Christie) Lucifer, and with his "no gender or maybe both/all but smoking hot regardless" sibling, Desire.
