Mickey was a Nice Guy TM about Rose, who kinda... Didn't even break it off with him??? They were dating and then they never officially broke up, she just kept running off with the Doctor.

Martha was supposed to be smart, and spent her time coming back after she left being kidnapped and impersonated in a trap she should have definitely been smart enough to fucking avoid because it required her to do the stupid thing and go alone. Martha was a plot device.

And that’s racist? I don’t buy it. All the RTD companions got the same shitty treatment of being a bag of tropes. Nothing Martha or Mickey experienced was based on their race nor stereotypical of their race and arguably only Rose got better treatment by being RTD’s fave but tbh I think she was the most empty, boring, tropey one of all.
