I’m getting major deja vu as well from this and #3. I feel like I read them as posts in a “secrets you don’t want to make” thread, but way too long ago to have been last week.

Never seen FotR, but agreed in general. Seeing people who've lived an actual life either finding or refinding love feels so much more substantial than most romcoms with a cheap meet-cute and minimal characterisation other than the characters falling for each other in like 3 days.

I like to call this genre 'old people romance'.

Not quite the same, but this is also why Persuasion is my favourite OJane Austen novel.
