I recently came across someone who shipped half of my OTP with a character I haaaaaate, and my first thought was like "nope! not acceptable!" and blocked them, and then felt really dumb because in the past I've only blocked people for what I consider more understandable reasons (conspiracy crap, racism, homophobia, one dude who wouldn't shut up about how attractive he found 14 year olds).

What's the dumbest reason you've blocked someone?

I've come to block people for things like that all the time. I can't remember the dumbest reason ever because I block too many people, but a petty common reason for me is use of any memes that even slightly annoy me, and certain emojis.

I block people on a whim tbh so nearly all my reasons are dumb and vary across many different ‘people stating fandom opinions I find annoying’ lol.

This is on deviantart but I block people who use cookie cutter assets to make art so their work would stop showing up in search results. Additionally once AO3 allows for us to block authors, I'll block authors who add way too many tags for their fics.

Honestly, I rarely block people unless they say especially heinous shit or they're a co-worker. (Yeah, I draw real hard boundaries with co-workers these days.) I'm more likely the one to be blocked, it seems.

They changed to just posting pics of their kid and how good looking the child was. They were legit the ugliest kid I have ever seen and none of the posts had any substance like, “my child accomplished this,” or “we had fun doing this,” it was just “look at my good looking child.”
I hope the kid grows into their features and even if they don’t that they are getting to have some interaction with their mother other than her shoving her phone in their face all the time.

One person I am subscribed started to write about their niece or nephew (I think). I am really glad they have a tag for this, because this was absolutely annoying.

Someone on tumblr kept reblogging my favorite from ME to rant about how ugly he is. I ignored it for a while, but it got tedious to see in my notes.

They made a new account to ask me to unblock them, so

God. I would block their new account even harder

I block people for stupid shit all the time. I REPORT people for racisim/homophobia etc

For example I was subscribed to a girl who kept on using pig emoji for everything. This emoji annoyed me so much I had violent fantasies at one point. But I have thought it was too petty to unsubscribe. (Not going to make this mistake ever again)
And one day she made a post something like "I am going on a diet I am such a [pig emoji] [pig emoji]". I am fat and judging from her photos she isn't and at this point I became so angry I blocked her with extreme satisfaction.
