Is the author of Mo Dao Zu Shi still missing? I could easily see the authors being trying to avoid a similar fate. However... yeah, there's a lot of Wolf Warrior mentality going around, and I don't like it either.

afaik she's no longer missing (and maybe never was? I've seen conflicting reports), because she's written messages for the English translations and publications of her novels. idk more than that though

Not sure, really. I mean, especially in BL, it might be a way to try and balance out the evil gay by ingratiating themselves overly much through OTT nationalism in front of possible censorship but ehhh, not sure about that.
