That's something that I struggle with most Chinese content. If a certain show or movie feels a bit too CCP I stop watching. But I suppose it's a lot like watching US stuff that's funded or supported by US Military (a reason why I don't watch a lot of action movies anymore/superheroes centered media anymore).

Came here to say this. Maybe people are too used to all the US patriotic stuff on TV that they don't notice anymore, but to me as a foreigner, shows like NCIS or NCIS LA or many other series are on the same level as the Chinese stuff.

OP
See, I don't watch any of these and I'm not American so that's not as much of an issue for me (if I did watch them it totally would be). I'm from a country that generally discourages nationalism so I'm generally touchy about it. But from what I've seen, it's more strongly and obviously implied in American shows - the novels I've read basically literally spell it out how much superior China is compared to the rest of the world and how much more well behaved Chinese netizens are (which... oh hell no lol) and it's even more grating if they don't even try to be subtle about it.

if you think it's annoying in American stuff, how is it weird that people think it's annoying in Chinese stuff
