Funnily enough, I haven't ever really cared much for Taylor Swift or her music but I do think some of the hate she gets is just unchecked (internalized) misogyny.
Here's another pretty white girl from privilege being successful and enjoying herself.
It's the "enjoying herself" thing that kind of ticks something off to me.

Taylor is routinely made fun of for dancing and enjoying herself during performances as an audience member at awards shows.
Taylor has fun with Easter eggs and poking fun at her own life/celebrity gossip she gets embroiled in.

I'm not saying the criticism Taylor Swift gets is only ever thinly veiled misogyny crap. There are things Taylor Swift has done or said that I don't like, and I think some of the criticisms she gets is valid.
But I do think in general we are unfairly harsh on popular female celebrities/public figures.

Always describing her by her privileged points like "pretty white cishet" is a tell that it's misogyny. It's a great way to mask the fact that they're really just wanting to say "girl."

Yeah. Even with Lizzo getting criticism for "promoting fatness" simply because she wore an outfit that shows off a lot of skin.

Like, I'm pretty sure she just wants to dress the way she wants because it makes her happy.

It's just extremely easy to knock down a woman over the most random thing. The easier it is to find something "hate-able" in a woman the faster the dog pile will be.

Taylor Swift is the reason pretty girls have it easy.

Lizzo is the reason fat people have it easy.

Fat people have it easy on your planet? That’s cool. On mine, they get paid less, crimes against them are usually taken less seriously, and they’re victims of medical malpractice at far greater rates than thin people.

Nayrt but there is a subset of fatphobic people who think that anyone being vocal about body acceptance (aka a fat person living their life and not being miserable in their skin), or there being a tiny bit of size inclusivity in... anything at all... is promoting obesity and also now means thin people are oppressed and fat people have it easy.

This is obviously untrue but it is a bizarro world viewpoint a surprising number of people have, and it reads like ayrt was alluding to these kinds of people in their comment, to me.

Anon who the anon you replied to, and yes! A fat person living their life will set off some people's alarm bells. Fat people being given room to be seen and accepted for simply being themselves and their whole identity isn't "my life sucks because I'm fat" piss some people off that they turn it into a moral panic. The "fat people have it easy" is probably more commonly phrased as "fat people are lazy", IMO more or less getting to the same point: "Your body is wrong and you should feel ashamed for not wanting to change it."

AYRT
.....those last two statements were baseless criticisms people give Taylor and Lizzo.

I don't think they're true at all. What I was trying to get across is that people make statements like that to cover up their misogyny.
"We don't hate Taylor Swift, we hate that rich white girls get everything handed to them."
"We don't hate Lizzo, we hate that women dress so provocatively."

SA
And yeah, Lizzo's thing is also attached to fatphobia. "We don't hate fat people, we just don't want to see their fat bodies." And people contort the second statement into health concerns/dress coding. Like, spin it anyway you want, we get it. You hate women being comfortable in their bodies.

Very much seconding this whole comment.
