As an ace woman, this secret is extremely relatable to me. I can and do still ship M/F pairings--hell, from the time I was fourteen to the time I was twenty-three I shipped exclusively M/F pairings. But once I got into slash, it genuinely was kind of difficult to go back, because I find it a lot easier to cut loose and just enjoy M/M and let it be whatever it is and just roll with that. With M/M I'm able to identify with the characters and empathize with them however I want to, without feeling like I instinctively can't avoid identifying with them in certain ways whether I want to or not, which is what tends to happen with M/F.
