Kind of a side note, but this was the first movie I ever saw Channing Tatum in, and I was surprised when I found out that he apparently was mostly known for roles like love interests in painfully heterosexual romantic chick flicks

There’s something off-putting about his looks added on top of how he’s supposed to be a sex symbol (where are these women the media claim drool over him? I’ve never met a single one). I wouldn’t watch his movies but made the exception for Lost City because it looked like a fun remake of Romancing the Stone starring Sandra Bullock and there was no way I wasn’t watching that. I loved the movie and I adored him in it. It gave me a whole new appreciation for him as an actor. And while I still don’t see what anyone finds attractive about him, he isn’t as ugly as he was. He isn’t really growing into his features (he outgrew his ears decades ago…look at those tiny little things!) but he’s ageing and it’s starting to show on his face and give him a little character.

I think the big movies for the Channing Tatum Is Sexy Agenda are probably Step Up + the Magic Mike movies?

I think it's less he has real women who drool over him... and instead has a very successful/powerful casting agent who gets him into stuff that would be suited to better actors.

He's good in comedy I've noticed, but everywhere else he tends to be wooden or bland.

This. Though I admit he's hot and thus I enjoyed the first two Magic Mike movies. Haven't bothered with the latest given I've heard there is little stripping in it, but he acted okay in the first two and looked very pretty. I'm perfectly okay with being shallow.
