Are they so young they're not familiar with other examples? And ignoring Sam Smith because he got fat, I guess.

Sam Smith goes by they pronouns I'm pretty sure.

And they were fat, lost weight and got fat again - and have only been criticised for their glam femme fashion choices when they're fat.

The fat and queer phobia is real obvious when a cis straight slim boy like Harry gets praised piled on him for what Elton John (and Bowie, and countless others) did decades ago, but when a non cis fat person does it they get told to tone it down and to wear diverging more appropriate.

For more fatphobia content also see everything Lizzo gets thrown at her for just unapolejectedly existing.

Not blaming Harry's fans specifically, more society in general.

Society bestows pretty privilege. That's just the way society is. No, people should not be getting shit on because of their size, but someone conventionally handsome and thin is always going to be fawned over more.

It's not about being fawned over or not. It's about the fact that Harry gets praised specifically for his gender non-conforming fashion when he is cis and very likely straight, while an actual non-binary person gets not just ignored but attacked for doing the same thing. Ie attacked for having a body and a gender that don't conform. There's an ugliness at the heart of how they are treated differently.
