Oh I feel this. I only did a couple years of Ballet, but my sister was serious about it and stuck with it through high school. I got so sick of Nutcracker. I still have a couple of the music pieces from it on my ipod, but I'd never watch the ballet again.

I always find it underwhelming.

Every fucking year. Calling it the Christmas Ballet does not help.

I fucking love the Nutcracker, but I don't think I could love it half so much if I had ever done ballet - there's one guy in our city ballet corps (or whatever its called) who went from playing the young boy in 1992 to the grandfather in 2022 and I don't know whether to call that love, fortitude, or a hostage situation.

lol my mom plays in an orchestra that does the Nutcracker and she's watched some of the kid dancers 'age up' from mice to angels to ginger snaps etc every year :} and one finally got to be Clara right before Covid hit.

My parents are classical musicians and my mom plays in one of the local orchestras that does the Nutcracker live every year. So she's played it for like 30 years now (minus the last few due to Covid). Played it with a lot of the same people for 30 years.
I don't doubt it gets tiring but she likes it better than some other things that get overplayed by orchestras.

My dad has somehow escaped the Yearly Nutcracker Curse by instead getting hired as a freelancer to play Christmas concerts of other sorts.

Anyway yeah I totally get being sick to death of some things and yet...when they are such a large part of your income... :[

I can’t stand the Nutcracker music and if I hear that tune again it’ll be too soon

i'm the exact opposite, i love that shit. i literally bought a cd and played it year round lmao. frankly it being so familiar made it so much easier to dance and practice. it's the most orienting piece of music i know.

As someone who has never done ballet but enjoys watching it: I loathe The Nutcracker. It’s also usually the only option to see any kind of ballet ):

I kind of know how you feel. I love the Beatles and Led Zeppelin but I never want to hear Hey Jude or Stairway to Heaven again.
