The corporate web is disgusting
(Anonymous) 2023-02-23 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)Frankly missing so much the days when the Internet was just a place for autistic people such as myself to talk to others about their hobbies or whatever. The corporate web fucked us all but I do feel like it fucked people like me the most of all.
A struggle of mine lately has been that since I am stuck in a rut professionally (just a streak of bad luck - a good job offer that turned out not to be so good, trying to join extremely elitist fields as a non-affluent person, etc.) I have been wanting to invest in other aspects of my life so my mental health doesn't deteriorate completely. Such as my passions. And back then I enjoyed making websites/blogs/shrines but I have never been one for "communities" like the Twitter way of fandoming (where info gets lost quickly) or Livejournal's (ACTUALLY too autistic for it) and since no one cares for websites anymore and Tumblr is full of porn bots I thought, well, there must be SOMEPLACE for me.
So I asked on a subreddit I visit often "how do you feel about blogs, would you want to read a blog about this topic, or is there another format you'd prefer?" etc. Someone clicked downvote and that was the end of the discussion. sigh
Fuck discussion, fuck trying to interact with people, well come to think of it fuck people.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-23 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)I'm thinking of opening a self hosted blog with simple code written by me just to write stuff that's on my mind and discuss topics I'm interest into (fandom culture, literature, art techniques and privacy issues RANDOM STUFF). Just for fun.
I'm well aware that I'd probably be the only person interacting with the blog, but I just want an outlet to write something while also practicing my English skills and maybe post some bad art made by me without feeling any external pressure (likes, karma points etc).
IDK nonny, I'd say go for it and write your blog and fuck other people! If you feel like it you can spam it here on F!S and maybe you'll gain some readers. A hobby doesn't need to be monetized or liked by other people to have value.
Good luck :)
Re: The corporate web is disgusting
(Anonymous) 2023-02-23 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)That might be interesting, anon!! Totally get what you mean. My art isn't technically the best either, but I love to get feedback. But I feel heartbroken when I talk about something I like and go "ISN'T THAT SUPER INTERESTING?" and it's clearly... not to them so I like to interact with an audience. But there's just too many rude people online nowadays, that it feels like no audience might be better. Whoops.
Thanks a lot! :) Agreed, really. It's more that there are too many things I would like to write about and it's difficult to pick a focus, so I asked to know what people would be interested in reading, that is, what would have an audience. But, sigh, apparently nothing.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-23 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)Wow, that sounds rude of whoever did that. Sometimes I like voting/rating systems but it can be infuriating when someone just downvotes with no explanation.
