What, the porn ban was called fap snap?

I am on Tumblr every day and have been for 11 years and I have literally never heard that phrase

Same, and same.

Also, OP, I understand if that was a last straw for you, but some forms of "mature content" are allowed again, with flags kind of like how you can flag content on Dreamwidth. But then as [personal profile] tabaqui says, it is kind of hard to actually hold a conversation there. It works better for art and gifsets than meta, and IMO fanfic too, although people do post some. The taboo against adding lengthy comments in a reblog and instead only adding some tags, or a reply, rather works against getting any decent number of comments on a fic, too.

another anon chiming in to say "same" but also I wish I had because that phrase delights me

I arrived on Tumblr after fandom spaces disintegrated and after the porn ban.

I tried tumblr earlier, hated it, and came back around the time of the porn ban and honestly I think it's a much more fun site now. Not because of the porn ban but because most of the really big wankers (and the shiny new antis) in my fandoms moved to Twitter where they can yell at people all day and get more attention.

DA - It is a million times more fun now that everyone thinks we're dead. It's like we're out here committing fandom social security fraud.

I never 'got' Fandom on Tumblr (beyond rec lists and pretty/funny gif sets), because it was so impossible to hold a conversation (unlike LJ/DW).

I'm sorry you feel you have no fannish spaces, OP.

I've been on there for years and I've witnessed plenty of debates/discussions being held there, even contributed to some myself, so I don't agree at all with the idea that there isn't or that there can't be any real discussions on this plateform. Not that the way it works as to be something you enjoy or understand, but there ARE way to make it work.

Current Tumblr isn't all that great, but it'd at least be more bearable if the overall site culture and even popular typing style didn't feel like it was trying and failing to be edgy and cute at the same time

Dunno, tumblr is much more chill now
