I mean i actually do think it's really shitty and destroys fandom to have a part of fandom which is non-monetized, and have that part be exploited on platforms clearly with the aim of getting followers and therefore making money and usually subsequently allowing people to brigand the original post.

This isn't just because people want to control their content. you'll see an equal amount of people being like "come talk to my fic on tumblr!" it's imo primarily because there's a lot of decontextualized de-fandomed sporking (which already had extremely toxic elements) for clout and clout alone going on on social media and it's causing a lot of more barely fandom lookyloos to harass people.

people aren't just doing it with fics either.

I don't mind people trying to be make some type of fandom/internet etiquette surrounding it, even if what they want is simply never going to happen.
