Preach the gospel! :D

---

Myra Jade? (did I get her name right?)

[identity profile] x-of-greene-x.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
3. This one I'm pretty sure is Case. =P I made you icons for that!

[identity profile] song-of-truth.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
3. Definitely sounds awesome. Cheers to you. :D

5. I missed out on that fandom, but I still love the games dearly. I can definitely see what horrors you escaped from, though - I've looked through the various old fanfics and such, and it's really...painful. Sorry you had to suffer that!

[identity profile] radarsparks.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
1. When all the Pokemon are fighting in the first movie and Ash gets in the way? And then Pikachu starts to cry? Me too, oh snap.

[identity profile] fairyfey.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
9. Small RPs are fun as long as everyone's actually -active-, but those seem to be pretty hard to find. x_x

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
1. The first Pokemon movie made my mom cry. XD

(Anonymous) 2007-04-01 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Mara Jade-Skywalker, actually.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-01 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The fanfic itself isn't half of it. You had to be involved in the shipping wars, the BNF rivalries, and all the various other crap to really know the horrors of that fandom. :(

[identity profile] demyx.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Omg, I hear you. The first movie was so much LOVE. I adore the third one too. That scene where all the Pokemon cry still tears me up.

But the ending of the third one makes me bawl. I won't even try to hide it. DX I can't watch that movie in public anymore. XD I'll just cry too hard.

5. Was the GS fandom that bad? I loved the games, but I never got into the fandom... I don't think I ever realized it existed. xD; It seemed OK from the miniscule amount of fic I read.

[identity profile] happy-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I know! That's why I can't watch anymore of them. I really loved the first one though. Hell, the first season episode "Bye Bye Butterfree" made me bawl like a baby!

8. Sometimes, I think that too. Then I realize that I'd probably be a faker person than I already am.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-01 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The fanfic isn't terrible. It's the out-of-fic drama that was bad.

[identity profile] zhoutaisdayoff.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I couldn't remember her full name for the life of me.

[identity profile] song-of-truth.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry. :\

[identity profile] sylladicks.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I still watch the movies when I can, because I like them. In fact, somewhere on my desk is the Pokemon HEROES movie.

7. HAHAHAHA. I NO U. But will stay quiet.

BUT TOTALLY AM AGREEING WITH THIS SECRET, YO.

9. I don't have that problem but I know what you mean. I think it's because I ended up diving straight into a big RP where I knew absolutely no one.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-02 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Number 7 speaketh the truth.

Actually, just in general--WTF is WITH the Bleach fandom turning Grimmjow into zarking PYRAMID HEAD? Orihime, Ulquiorra, Ichigo, Ishida--RAEP RAEP RAEP RAEP *RAEP*. It's gotten so that I just never read fic with GJ in it anymore at all--cause 99.99999 percent of it is lousy rape fic.

/rant

(Anonymous) 2007-04-02 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Number 7 maker saying: yes.

I just do not understand. If Grimmjow could rape you, he can probably kill you. And if he can kill you, he sure isn't going to waste his time doing anything else.

[identity profile] infringe.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
7. Bullshit. Grimmjow and Ichigo as a pair? Complete bullshit. Reality check, but if you want Grimmjow to stay IC, then he's never going to go gay for Ichigo-- and for ANYONE ELSE. He's a motherfucking bastard and bastards don't love. End of story. Being interested in someone in that way is a testimony of weakness too.

What, I'm an elitist when it comes to this guy. I ADMIT IT. But then again, lol fandom is such srz bizness. :'(

[identity profile] chaoticchicken.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
1. Joining in with the "I'm a pussy for Pokemon" too.

5. THIS GAME HAD A FANDOM? I've never even met someone who knew what they WERE!

9. Small vs. big is a hard choice for me... I've been in a few "small" RPs where you're treated like an absolute outcast unless you're a) part of the main fandom or b) forcing your way into their clique.

[identity profile] infringe.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
3. Case, you suck at making secrets. xD

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 01:19 am (UTC)(link)

2. I have RPed both. They're different, but equally fun. I have an ogre slaying knife with a +9 against ogres!

3. Oh, Case. ♥

6. I don't really think she's a Mary Sue. I get tired of seeing every random female character who has some fighting skills and ends up being a romantic interest of a male lead referred to as a Mary Sue. I've always liked her, even cosplayed her at the Attack of the Clones movie premiere.

7. Thank you. I don't understand why people write this stuff and it's really taking over the fandom lately because of the direction the series has taken. Just ... no.

8. I sometimes wish I hadn't either, but then I wouldn't have some of the friends I do now. I wouldn't do the things I do, et cetera. My life would have less drama maybe, but it wouldn't be the same. I sometimes wonder when I'm in public how many people do what I do. It's weird when I find out that they not only do what I do, but know who I am.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_dahne_/ 2007-04-02 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I have to ask: what in the world is a PB?

[identity profile] dots.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not the maker, but it means "played by" -- typically its a real person to represent a non-real character in a roleplaying game. Such as Boyd Holbrook representing Riku or Hyde representing Zexion. (I use examples I know!)

[identity profile] keikain.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
7. Fucking hell, thank you. lkajskfas It drives me up the wall reading simpering-uke!Ichigo fics.

[identity profile] tsukishine.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
#7: Big. Fucking. WORD.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
6. Why is it that strong kick ass male fighters are immediately accepted but strong kick ass female. fighters are called Mary Sue's? That just doesn't make any sense to me.

7. I can see Grimmjow trying to rape someone because he's a bastard but I can't see him really pairing with anyone. And I definitely can't see Ichigo being a crybaby, whimpering uke to Grimmjow. Ichigo would fight to his last breath. That's just the kind of guy that he is. Why do people have to take strong characters and turn them into whimpering angsty messes?

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Why do people have to take strong characters and turn them into whimpering angsty messes?

WELL HOW ELSE ARE THEY GOING TO GET THEIR WEEPY TEARY BUTTSEKCS I MEAN SERIOUSLY

[identity profile] melting.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
2. I do the same thing, except I end up defending freeform much more to my tabletop friends. They think freeform is wussy. I tell them it's creative.

3. That's so cool.

[identity profile] radarsparks.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's the look in Pikachu's eyes, ohmygod. So heartbroken it just twists my heartstrings into knots. It's always made my mom cry too, haha.

[identity profile] glitterbats.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 04:44 am (UTC)(link)

Because a woman's place is to be protected and cherished by the hero so that at the end of the story, they can ride off into the sunset with scenes of future wedded bliss and OMGKAWAII children to follow. Anything else is just unrealistic, empty wish fulfillment by bitter women who've never REALLY been loved.

/bitter, but not because of a lack of love

[identity profile] sylviaviridian.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
1. I still adore the first two, and the episode Pikachu's Goodbye will never, ever fail to make me break down in tears.

6. So much word. Heir to the Empire introduced three of my favorite-ever Star Wars characters: Mara, Karrde, and of course Thrawn. Mara kicks so much ass, and I've never thought of her as a Sue.
larvayne: pokemon; ho-oh (ESPEON: FUNERAL OF LIGHTS)

[personal profile] larvayne 2007-04-02 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
1. YESYESYES.

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
1. ADKJGHDKJHFDAJK FUCK I REMEMBER THAT EPISODE. I cried on the kitchen floor like a fucking BABY.

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, the shipping wars. I was an Isaac/Mia fan, myself, but I never got into fights with other fans... at least not that I can remember. Nowadays I've come to like Isaac/Jenna as well, but I don't write for GS anymore, so. :\

But yeah, the fandom was not pretty. At all. Many fandoms arn't when you hang out with the wrong people.

[identity profile] luzerna.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The funny thing is, those types of female characters get bashed for being "Mary-Sues" just as much as the female fighters.

You just can't win these days. :(

[identity profile] luzerna.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I love the first movie. I bawled like a baby the first time I saw it... and about half the theatre did too. You could hear sobs coming from all over the room. I also cried every episode that Ash let one of his pokemon go (Pikachu's Goodbye, the one with Butterfree and the one with Charizard are the most notable ones).

7. Whaaaaat. D: The very thought of weepy-uke Ichigo makes my brain break. So glad I don't read much fanfiction for that anymore. So, so glad.

[identity profile] glitterbats.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)

Not if you have double Xs, you can't. :(

[identity profile] bedlam14.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's kind of scary- the idea of the 'unfulfilled woman' being the strong, independant type. The whole thing is a real throwback to the 50's, when women that wanted to be poets and doctors and not have children were considered neurotic and unstable.
Supposedly our generation prides itself on being so pro-this and liberal-that, but when we look at what these Sue writers and character bashers are saying and doing, it doesn't match with our 'image' at all. WTF, (wo)man?

(Anonymous) 2007-04-07 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
6. FUCK, I HATED HER. (has she died of her horrible brain disease yet?)

...I wanted Luke to end up with Callista. Or Tenieal (however you spelt that) Ka, the sister of Dathomir who wanted to make him a sex slave.

But I really, really loved Luke & Callista.

4. *glomps you, whoever you are*

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2007-04-10 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
To #6: I agree, Mara Jade was one of the best things to come out of the Bantam period for the Expanded Universe. ... Never struck me as a Mary Sue, but, then, back when I read those novels, there was no Internet. ^_^;

[identity profile] neveth.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
werd to #2.

I just don't get freeform RP - it seems WAY too complicated. I used to play freeform, but tabletop converted me. (plz to note my friends and I have yet to play a tabletop game using anything other than a homebrew system, though our current game is "Super Suikoden Side Stories Omake" cause it's Suikoden-based. D&D is waaay too restrictive. )
