Download them. I've got 1800+ bookmarks and I download almost all of them (most PWPs are not worth it to me). I've got 1400+ fics downloaded.

This is why I never got into ao3 bookmarks. If I bookmark them on pinboard (or elsewhere) I have the summary & also the URL to put into the wayback machine.

I just save the fics I really like so if they do get taken down there's a copy I can always access, you never know how long a website is going to last so I'd rather be prepared just in case.

I've been slowly downloading all my bookmarked fics for exactly this reason.

I download them and load them into Calibre. I make up collections and can edit the “cover” and give a little summary for myself so I know what I’m getting into when I see them on my Kindle.

I do the same!

Also save some to Google Drive as a backup

I do this too! Calibre makes it so easy to download all the stories in one page. I periodically download my bookmarks so nothing is lost.

That's actually a good idea. It drives me crazy to go looking for a fic and finding a bunch that got deleted and thinking 'JFC what else went??? D:'

I've started C&Ping the title, author and summary into the bookmark and then, if the fic isn't locked to archive, saving it to the wayback machine. I've had enough devices crash that having them DLed isn't as helpful as it could be, if it's on the wayback machine I don't have to worry about that.
