I also often have found myself on the outside of fandoms looking in, wanting to join the group but knowing that I would never quite fit in.

If you don't want to block antis, don't block them! Enjoy their content and ignore the creators.

If you choose that, though, don't then turn around and complain to third parties about all these antis you keep seeing, because people will naturally keep telling you to just block them. So avoid that and everyone's happy!

I only watched this movie when it came out so I can't remember a lot of it. But it seemded to me that at the end it was almost like the son was telling himself his own little fairytale about his father in order to feel better about his childhood.

Not sure if that interpretation would hold up on a rewatch.

Not OP, but 'bringing joy to millions' isn't a get-out-of-jail-free card for doing a shitty job of something directly related to your job. And calling an author out on doing that is really not what I'd call petty, especially when it's obvious and easily rectified. There's plenty of ways a half-decent author can write around a language without including it if he doesn't want to take five seconds to make sure he's getting it right.

His books had so much satire in them, if he got a foreign language wrong I think we're safe assuming he wasn't trying to be serious.

He deliberately used "bad" French, German, Latin, etc, as a way to poke fun at how monolingual Brits interact with the world. I thought that was clear from the context.

I only ever read a few Discworld books and I don’t remember any French or German.

Does anyone have examples? Or where I would look for them?
