I really don't like the original covers, either. They seemed very clumsy and "perspective, what is that?" and like the characters were awkwardly pasted to the page. Especially with the posing of HP in Philosopher's Stone, but really with everyone, always. It felt like they were trying to be cutesy and just managed to be very fail.

Out of curiosity, are you talking about the original UK book covers? Or the US book covers? I'm not a huge fan of either, but I was talking about the UK book covers. But your comment about perspective feels like it applies better to the US covers. Not that the UK covers have A+ perspective, but the weird, wonky perspective of the US ones stands out to me a lot more!

I've seen both. I think I saw the EU one first and the American ones later, but my impression that they were ugly applied, across the board.
