OT I just realised that every time I see Justin Timberlake now all I can think about is his appearance on Graham Norton where he seemed to be so high that even my oblivious ass noticed. Either that or JT is a really really strange person.

Want Usher still making his when Chris Brown came on the scene? Like, I don't disagree that Chris Brown is a piece of shit and Justin Timerlake is a shit stain, but I'm not sure anyone was actually trying to replace Usher. Replicate his success sure.

i kinda think so. usher still made hits but after confessions his heydey was over imo. the 4 year gap and the change in music style meant that nobody was doing rnb like he used to for a while.

Honestly, I still listen to some Breezy (ugh) and enjoy it, and just today, I was listening to NSYNC which turned into listening to Justified (can we just appreciate The Neptunes for their beats for minute, so fucking good).

I'm not a fan of either as people, and I don't think anyone can exactly replicate Usher (even outside of the time, he still remains iconic). Perhaps they were intended as successors musically, but JT for sure and maybe even CB have admitted their origin inspiration as Michael Jackson. If the industry meant for them to be successors, it was very much as a test, let's see if this will stick, until they each became their own beast. Usher still does features, and it wasn't terribly long ago he was dropping some good songs. Or maybe it was? Lol

I don't know if it's nostalgia because he was popular when I was partying in HS/college, but I miss Usher's heyday. I miss hearing his music everywhere. (Yes, this is also the secret-maker who has talked multiple times about how much I enjoy hearing songs I like on the radio or out in public versus streaming it in the privacy of my home, lol.)
