As someone who had a Millhouse type guy around me at school (as in, he was into me but wouldn't give up no matter how blunt I got about it, which obviously as a teenage girl you're often not confident enough to be TOO blunt) I feel your second option. I think Lisa ending up with Millhouse depresses me because it hits too close to wondering what might've happen if I hadn't got out of that town.

I hate the idea that women always have to be worn down and accept someone eventually because of views along the lines of "aww but he's nice" or worse when you get told "well, you won't do any better" and that's what it feels like to me. I haven't watched The Simpsons in years but I always felt Lisa would either be happy single as an adult or the person she would end up with romantically wasn't in Springfield.

OP who made that Lisa Get Out of Springfield comment, but big same. I'm just not into these milquetoast loser boyfriend types whose only purpose is to be accepted and loved by women who deserve better, especially when they won't improve themselves.

I don't remember much of that episode anon used for today's secret, but I think I recall Milhouse was still acting like that, and yeesh. Yeesh.

I didn't like the episode with Lisa as a President (just because it was, an overall meh episode), but that's still the future I hope Lisa ends up in.

This.

Exactly, Lisa has so many interests and things that she's passionate about, I think she'd stay happily single rather than be with someone she wasn't compatible with.

And Milhouse deserves someone who really likes him for himself as well, not someone he was able to wear down.

Oh Christ, yes. It's so gross. No one's entitled to a relationship with me, and I have no obligation to meet the needs of someone I'm not interested in.
