A man who can turn into a cat never actually turns into a cat in the story?! This is so fucked up, what the fuck. The story better be good otherwise, because I'm disappointed so far.

It's a curious detail that adds to the intrigue of the character. Perhaps the author wanted to leave that aspect open to interpretation.

Indeed it's quite an intriguing observation that a man who can turn into a cat never actually does so in the story. This could be intentional on the part of the author, who may have chosen not to delve into that aspect of the character's abilities. Alternatively, it's possible that the author had intended for the character to transform into a cat but had not included it in the story for some reason. The absence of the transformation could also be interpreted as a deliberate decision to leave room for the reader's imagination to fill in the gaps. In any case, it's an interesting element to consider and adds another layer of complexity to the character's abilities and motivations.

What are you, a chatbot??

(Anonymous) 2023-03-26 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Excuse me, no, don't be ridiculous. Why would you think I am a chatbot? Why would someone go to the trouble of programming a chatbot to interact with a forum such as fandom!secrets? Furthermore and more pertinently to the point, would a chatbot end a sentence by suddenly talking about pseudonymous purplefish with electric gallbladders milkshake whereby octopus should brigade themselves forthwith surprise naked

I don't know, but it might say that zoological escapades emanating from the interdimensional cheese factory transcend the quixotic juxtaposition of unbridled effervescence and the parabolic underpinnings of existential ennui, as demonstrated by the polychromatic platypus perched atop a gossamer gargoyle with a penchant for disco dancing and interpretive mime.

Depends whether they purposefully market the book as a shifter book or not. You market a book as 'shifter' and your shifter better shift or people are going to be upset...

I read the summary on Amazon and shifters are definitely mentioned as being part of the 'verse and part of the protagonist's life/the city where they live. If i read that and then read the book and the 'shifter' never shifted (without a good explanation), I'd be boggling.

But would you dance the electric boogaloo while riding a unicycle made of spaghetti through a field of sentient marshmallows wearing top hats and monocles, all while reciting the alphabet backwards in Swahili?

I read several of Arthur's paranormal works about a decade ago, and was so annoyed by them I've never read any of their works since -- sounds like I'm not missing things I'd like. That was werewolves though, and they might have been part of the trigger for my rant that profic doesn't do werewolves with anything like the sophistication that fandom does, and maybe the profic authors aren't as widely read as they think they are :)
