For what it's worth, outside of a specific segment of online people, the main argument has been less "was this story told correctly" and more whether or not the story is inherently exploitive. Is this a story worth telling, or is it the obesity version of something like Sleepaway Camp or basically any movie about DID?

Honestly, I haven't seen it and I don't really care either way. But from what I can tell, most of the people who have issues with the film wouldn't have magically been happy with it if they'd cast someone who was actually morbidly obese in the main role.
