That's fair.

Though I am that person who reread fics - because some of the fics that I reread are fics that I really really like.

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Same. I rarely reread fics and only mostly by chance

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
I love rereading fics! If it's a good fic, why wouldn't I want to reread it

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Fair!
But I am like the OP I am just not interested

Totally!

I read fics more than once same as I read books more than once.

Yeah, I don't reread fics much either. Generally when I DO reread fics, it's because I start thinking about a fic I read that was particularly good and I get the urge to reread a specific part, and then once I'm actually reading that part I get hooked and end up rereading the whole thing. But that generally only happens with really good fics.

I still download the fics I like, though, because regardless of whether I ever reread them, it's an awful feeling when a fic I enjoy is lost to me forever.

Okay.

I reread fics for the same reasons I reread books and rewatch movies, TV shows, clips on YouTube - because I like them (or parts of them) and want the same feeling I had while reading/watching before. For entertainment, sometimes I want an unknown experience (which is exciting, but I don't know how much I'll enjoy it), sometimes I want a known experience (which is good, but it doesn't hold any mystery). If you don't get the same feeling (or close to it) that you got before from a reread, I get why you don't reread.

Some fic are like a warm sweater on a cold night.

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
I generally read fics once and move on. But there have been some fics that just hit all the spots and I either save it or reread it a few times.

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm mostly like this as well.

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
I hardly ever reread or rewatch things in general OP so I get you there.

But I will reread a good kinky fic or a fic that just hits my id wants perfectly. Those are the only fic I bookmark. And if I've got an itch I want to scratch, that's when I'll reread them.

I generally read in small fandoms, so I often re-read fics. I envy people who have a constant influx of new stuff to read\look at\listen to, though it must get tiring at times.

It's rare for me to find fics that really tickle my id just right. When I do I reread them literally hundreds of times. The rest I read once, mostly.

Rereading (and rewatching) things is one of my greatest pleasures when it comes to media consumption. I get the same feelings doing this as when I listen to my favourite song for the nth time.

I know for me re-reading is a more comfortable experience since I already know how it goes. *shrug*

Some fics just hit the spot. It's annoying as fuck to have a scene in your head and you want to re-read the fic it's from but you just. can't. find. it.

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I mostly read fics only once as well, if I really, really like a fic I save it so I can re-read it whenever I want but I don't do that often and it's more a habit learned from years of website deletions that took out fic I loved and can never find again.

(Anonymous) 2023-03-28 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I reread fics because with my rarepairs and tiny fandoms there's no choice

There aren't that many fics I personally reread, but have you never been bummed that you could not rec a fic to someone who hadn't read it because it had been deleted?

TW; Talk for depression

So, as a contrast to this, I have to say: I struggle with depression, and sometimes I can get really, really low. At those times, it's nice to go back to a fic that I know exactly what to expect from and exactly how it's going to make me feel. That way, I can have something safe to distract myself from sinking even deeper into dark thoughts. So I really appreciate authors who leave their works up just for that, because even if I do save fics onto my computer, it's generally so much easier for me to quickly find fics on the internet than it is through the labyrinth of files that I've saved all the fics I like in.
