No I get it, I've dabbled in a few RPF ships in my time and I've never liked it when writers bring in the wives/gf's of the people involved, that's an instant back-button. It's weird at best and actively horrible because I've seen fics that devolve into shitting on the real person one half is actually in love with and who makes them happy, it's just... gross.
