Read a recent copy of the Beano recently and was pleasantly surprised. Still very silly (in a fun way) but they've got a much more diverse 'cast' now. Good on them for changing with the times.

Aww I used to love reading the Beano and Dandy as a kid (my Dad is a big Desperate Dan fan and collects his merch; the one I like best is a huge mug with Dan on it that mostly gets used for tea).

I can relate. If I don't really like the art style or think it suits the story it always limits how much I like the comic, no matter how well written it is. Sometimes I just put it down, sometimes I slog through until I get used to it. On the other hand, if I really enjoy the art and it's visually well told, it doesn't matter to me if the writing is only average.
