Are...are you me? I've seriously never seen anyone share this view with me. This concept of dating strangers/acquaintances to get to know them seems so counterintuitive because -- as has been written about extensively -- people dating people they don't know don't just be themselves...and if you're goal is to find someone to share your life with, being yourself is kind of an important thing.

But I guess that harshes the squee of people who are all about the sex and don't care about the relationship.

My girlfriend and I were very closer friends since... ever. But now that we are a couple we have friends that tell us that we should "know and date another people"... just to make sure?

I don't know what's behind the idea about that closer friends shouldn't be more than that if they want, no one will know you better than she or he. :/

There's something very appealing about two people who have worked closely together, who have depended on each other, who respect and revere each other (for instance Mulder and Scully) to start a sexual relationship together since then that will only be "the icing on the cake" so to speak, or the "added extra storey to an already solid foundation."

YES. Or my particular example would be Booth and Bones. But I said above or below or somewheres that the books I read growing up, that's always how the characters ended up together, and this always made more sense to me. But since I haven't been saving the world with a hot guy recently, this plan hasn't really worked out for me.

Ditto to the nth degree. Maybe it's just the really awkward experiences I've had while dating, but yeah...

"I'M SORRY LET'S JUST BE FRIENDS" is what I always end up saying, ahaha, how can you fall in love with someone you hardly know anyway? :/
