This anon wonders how thinking homosexuality is a sin but enjoying reading fiction about it is hypocritical, but then thinking that something such as incest is wrong but enjoying reading about incest in fiction is not hypocritical.

(Anonymous) 2009-05-30 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It is hypocritical.

The only people who say they think incest is wrong when they enjoy it in fiction are the ones who are afraid others will think they want to fuck their siblings. Or confuse incest with children getting raped.

Same anon, still confused.

So if someone believes that it's wrong to drink until you're drunk but then find it funny when fictional characters get drunk and act silly, they're being hypocritical?

Or... anything really. I don't see how seeing x thing is wrong but then finding it interesting or enjoyable to read about in fiction is hypocritical, since they think x thing is wrong to do/is wrong/whatever in REALITY. Why should their beliefs have to carry into something fictional, something that isn't real?

(Not saying that secret-poster is justified in what they believe, by the way. I'm just trying to figure this out.)

(Anonymous) 2009-05-30 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not really sure that applies to this secret because I think (I'm terrible at identifying celebrities), it's about Ellen Degeneres and her lover. And that's not fictional.

Most people think it's hypocritical because usually with homophobia, gays are being discriminated against while people fantasize about them. I doubt the anti-alcohol person is going to be fighting to prohibit alcohol (and if they are, they're hypocritical). It's hard to explain. :(

Oh, I wasn't aware they were real people... Since it's fandom-secrets, I usually assume it's from a show or something.

Then yes, secret-poster is a hypocrite.

Yes, I agree.
