Many Jewish people write it "G-d" and "L-rd" (sometimes the - is a / or a # or just left out) because of the way G-d's name is treated within Judaism. For example, we don't pronounce certain titles for G-d outside of prayer. When it comes to writing G-d (or any varient of His title) we do it mainly so that it can't be destroyed (for example, if this page were to be deleted).

It's not technically prohibited by Jewish law to write a title for G-d in any language other than Hebrew, but many of us choose to carry this into other languages, too.

Me, personally? It's mostly just habit.

Thank you for calling my username interesting. It's actually from a story I used to love years ago, about a boy who was addicted to coffee. As I'm a coffee addict in my own right, I jokingly started using it when I signed up to things I didn't need to remember my username to (I used to be Jump Nyabinghi in everything before that), and it just... stuck, I guess!

I never liked "sexygrl" kind of names. Although, admittedly (and ashamedly) I once had an email address that was gckornironmaidenchick - forgive me, I was twelve! D=

*waves* Did our name really mean that? I was always told it meant "Christ's birthday", "nativity" and the like in Russian. Though I've looked it up, and it also means "thank you" in Zambian, and it's actually a pet-name variant of "Natalia". How does a religious holiday = prostitute for a name? O_O

I used to do that more, where I had little creativity for making names. I used to have monkeygrl and Samurais42 as email addresses, or Rikku_sama/Rikku042 for screen names. (The "42" is from a L'arc~en~Ciel: "Grateful for the eternity of forty-two months.") I hate doing that now, especially including numbers and shit, so I usually stick with Final Dream or Kira Lawliet everywhere for consistency. (Though my FF.net screen name is Yume Kaze, it's not something that bad, and I can't change it now.)

Just for the record, I think if someone has to say they're sexy in their screen name, chances are they're a fucking whore or they're really, uh, not sexy at all.

Natasha means "celebration" technically, methinks, but is often cited as Christmas in Russian.

In Turkey, a lot of prostitutes are from Russia and many of them called themselves "Natasha" as their fake names, so the name "Natasha" came to mean "prostitute" to them. Also, funnily enough, my middle name is "Jade", which in old English means... wait for it... yep. Prostitute.

I am Hatshepsut somewhere, because of my fleeting obsession with ancient Egypt, and Marble_Arch somewhere else, because I... well, I was in Marble Arch when I had to make a screenname. It made sense at the time. *Fails at coming up with good screennames*

I never did numbers, because I can never remember them. Apart from in super-secret passwords, where I often use an original character of mine with their age. Aaaand that cat's out of the bag!

Hmm... the Egyptians were a really interested culture. I've never had the chance to really look into them much, but one of these days, I'd like to just study them in my free time. Their daily lives and their mythology are especially interesting to me.

It can a bit overwhelming when you first join, but once you get into several communities and meet friends there, LJ very quickly becomes addicting. There's a reason I've been doing GJ and LJ since I was in middle school! (LOL graduating today so yeah, quite a while. ♥)

Your sister named you? That's a pretty spiffy name for a little girl to pick out! (Unless she's significantly older than you, in which case I can sorta see how she'd come across it every now and then.) According to my mother, she's always wanted to named her little girl "Natasha", even to the point of bestowing the name to her dolls. I can't complain that she didn't have time to think over my name!

My sister (technically my half-sister) was asked if she wanted to name me when I was born, as my parents couldn't find anything that fit. She chose Natasha Jade, as she wanted to call her baby that. Then regretted it five years ago when she was pregnant. :P

Thanks! It was pretty much a carbon copy of the review, and we all finished it within 20-50 minutes (we have two hours to do it). So we made a flamethrower out of bubbles and a candle flame with all our 1337 AP Chem knowledge :D

Yeah, you probably should have noticed from the "G-d" discussion, but sometimes things like that just don't click. I remember having a conversation about Catholicism with a woman at work, and she got out her rosary to make a point... and it wasn't until later in the conversation that she mentioned being Catholic and I was like "you're Catholic?!" *Headdesk*

Happens to all of us, I'm sure. :P

And yeah, I don't even want kids - they're loud and sticky and way too delicate - but I have names picked out if I ever have them. For a boy, Jeremiah or Elijah, middle name Claus (that way I'm honouring both my Jewish and German heritage, and Claus von Stauffenburg - that's been a choice of mine since I was about thirteen, actually), and if a girl, Emmeline Marie (Emmeline Pankhurst, Marie Curie).

... Yeah. I have a "naming for a purpose" thing going on.

I was doing my final exam for AP Chemistry (http://www.clepprepcenter.net/student/testing/ap/chemistry/topic.html?chem)--it's in high school. I can do pretty well in my other classes, but for some reason, AP Chemistry was my bane. It's actually harder than college level, from what I hear, so yeah, that plus my natural fail in Chemistry made for a horrible year. I could exempt every other exam this semester except for my Chemistry ones. I'm done with it, though!

It's weird--I did learn in it, but I never did nearly so well on my tests as my reviews would seem to indicate I would.

I'm still not sure if I want children or not. I'm cleanly torn in half on the issue--I like children (when they're not screaming brats) but I'm not so sure I want to commit myself to having my own. I think I could be a much better mother than some women are, and I think I could actually be a good mother because I'd love to do fun stuff with my kids (like pretending a boring trip to the store is actually a trip through the galaxy. I winded up doing that on my own when I was little when we were in Home Depot.) But I'm not sure if I could deal with them if they winded up being these apathetic, sex-obsessed kids like a lot of teenagers are now. I hate saying this, but I'd sort of want them to turn out like me or at least similar--not caring what's popular, creative, a mind of their own, but still polite and (not to sound arrogant) intelligent. If they weren't, I think I'd be really disappointed :/

Hmm... my names?
Boys: I really love the name Dante, but unfortunately, it often has a rather ghetto association even though it's actually an Italian name. I'd have to make sure my boy's a strong, intelligent child or else his name's a complete waste (it means "enduring"). I also love the name Cain, but I'd never give my child that name! (I gave it to a character instead.) Hmm... also names such as Avery, Aiden, Constantine, Nikolai, Sebastian, Victor, et cetera. I like names that aren't very common, but also aren't completely off the wall, and that sound like they could fit a multitude of careers. A man named Avery could be a doctor, an athlete, an artist, a writer, et cetera. I've always loved "Edward", but after the whole Twilight thing, it'll be the new John -__-

Girls: Hmmm... a lot of different ones here: Aurora, Claire, Victoria, Scarlett, Anastasia, Keira, Holly. I like feminine names that sound classy but don't sound like pussy names nor common names. I actually have this book of baby names--it's a great resource for finding names for characters that have a great meaning and sound interesting--and did you know that "Natasha" is considered a powerful name? :D

Sorry, I have a thing for names. I take naming anything very seriously (since I name things like an iPod, my laptop, car, et cetera. I'm such a nerd).

OMG I NAME THOSE THINGS TOO. D: One of the things I love most about original characters is the naming process. It's just so fun. And as an interviewer I speak to a lot of people I'll never speak to again, so I often jot down names I like for characters.

We're the same age, but I only have to do a handful of subjects that I chose. They're called "A Levels"; totally different structure to America, I hear.

We're very similar, though, y'know. Same age, same name, both don't care about what's popular, a little obsessed with names and naming inaninimate objects (I called my cat Australopithecus, actually - he's so tiny and it's so funny that people can't pronounce it). And I'm similar to you with names. I like classic, pretty names that don't sound boring or common. That's why I love Elijah and Jeremiah and Emmeline - they're all really classic names, but I've rarely met anyone with them.

And clearly we both have a tendency to ramble. ;)

I'd make a joke about getting married, but can you imagine a couple called Natasha and Natasha? O.o

I love naming them too ♥ I have names like Cain, Roscoe, Reneé, Dante, Zero (long story) and... oh man, I can't decide to give this one guy the name Denzel or Giovanni, but I know I want him to have a name with Italian flair since I imagine him as this sort of overweight man with that mafia-boss air about him, complete with a cigar between his fingers and his arm around a woman's waist. I actually was debating for a while what to name the protagonist--Cain--but then I saw a reality sign walking to school that said "Caine", and I was like, "Of course! That's my favorite name!" ♥

People always have interesting names that I keep in the back of my mind. A good writer's gotta do that, don'cha know :D

If I may ask, where are you from? *checks* Oh, nevermind, Britain. ♥ Kinda jealous--I'm actually from Florida (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinellas_County,_Florida), so while it's not too heavy (New York Dad + German Mom = dilution of Souther influence), I have a "nice" hint of a Southern twang. [/sarcasm] Not to mention the education system in Europe is a lot better than over here, especially in my area. I'm so glad to be leaving this year because it's getting worse and worse, especially with budget cuts. :/

The name Australopithecus was chosen because I got my cat about... a year and a half ago, maybe? Anyway, at the time I was dating a Young Earth Creationist who kept telling me that we evolutionists are still looking for the missing link. :/ And, naturally, I'm like "WTF is a missing link? We've got hundreds of fossils. We might not have one for every single generation but YOU HAVE TO PUT SOME TERMS ON THIS MISSING LINK BUSINESS."

And she went on to describe our good friend Australopithecus. So, naturally, when I got the cat I had to piss her off. It was going to be either Australopithecus or Lucy, but I decided not to go the subtle way to make sure people get it. >:[

LOL I like the story behind name. I think the most creative we ever got with naming a cat was "Rocko" (as in Rocko's Modern Life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocko's_Modern_Life)) because my mom and I went out to buy the cat supplies, and I guess that while coming up with a name for the kitty, my sister and dad saw the show come on. (My dad was awesome and used to watch cartoons with his little twins when we were younger.) The name just seemed to fit him, so thus the cat was christened "Rocko".

It's fun being a twin. I wouldn't be able to compare it to any other sibling relationship, since my parents only wanted two and... uh, got them all at once! It usually works where the twins are either really hellbent on being different and apart for everything, and get competitive over stupid shit, or they're very close and one another's best friends. My sister and I fall into the latter category. ♥ Apparently we even spoke it twin babble as toddlers! We look similar, though we're actually fraternal :]

A lot of people say that, which I find surprising. You'd think people would be adverse to having someone they're constantly compared to and rarely seen as separate from. That's one thing I do find a bit annoying--people never seem to see us as two separate people because we're together so much.

"Tuesday" isn't too awful--my fifth grade teacher said she used to teach in a not-so-nice area years ago, and one of her students' legal name was "Little Sister". Tell me how much of a sucky name that is. :|

I think it's probably due to the media. We see twins that are so close they're literally the other half of each other, twins that switch places for a joke and nobody can tell, etc. It seems comforting and exciting.

Plus, I used to be really good friends with a pair of male twins who are identical. They're so close (I remember one of them crying to me once because of some shit that went down :/ Bless his heart), and it seems it'd be nicer than having bitchy older sisters who whine because you have more freedom than they did...

Anyway. To studying!

It is comforting, especially when you're a huge fan of something, and your twin is the only other person in, like, the world who seems to enjoy it as much as you do. I would feel very lonely indeed obsessing over Notre Dame de Paris but since she's just as huge a fan as me, it's nice to have someone who shares your unusual interest. She also understands me and gets me like nobody else, and vice versa--there literally are no secrets between us. ♥

We've never switched places though--people get us confused as it is, so we've never really felt like we had to! (Note: we really don't look identical. We look similar, but if you actually pay attention, you'll notice several differences.)

I think that's sort of how it is with my sister and I. Personally, I hate when we have an argument, and it really bothers me. I don't like throwing out verbal barbs, because that tends to incense the problem. Thankfully, we tend to get over even the most bitter arguments within a few minutes. I would probably hate my older sister because, like you said, they'd bitch how you have more freedom. I'm actually the "older sister", though only by, like, two minutes. XD
