Is Grant saying that because they're together, or because he just wants to cockblock Malcolm, though? Because I can totally see Grant doing that.

Because they’re together. She calls him dear or something right at the beginning and they have the conversation about her wanting kids and him not wanting kids. Plus there are cast and crew interviews where it’s explicitly stated they were in a relationship. It’s even on the Wikipedia page for the movie and for three when she gets married to…forgettable guy. I think it was even mentioned in three about how Ellie and Grant didn’t work ou but tbh I only saw that one once long ago.
