Purses and hats are a bit lacking.

There is no problem with purses and hats in this show, I chose this screenshot more for magic aspect l, it's a fantasy ball

A bit more hats for men, if not on their heads then in the hands, more umbrellas and gloves. I didn't recall purses but apparently it's there. Watched the serues some time ago.
I saw some movies that had hats and canes wearing men every outside scene.

... I mean. The first one is an obvious caricature. And the second one is a Victorian illustration that has a lot of more contemporary details. Hats are aggressively Victorian.

I do agree hats could have been more elaborate, but they are probably too expensive

you do not sound like someone who wants to discuss fashion. Of course it's a caricarture, duh.
Did you want me to provide a historical article here? Then pls provide Regency illustrations where men go bare headed outdoors if you can. Because they rarely wear hats in the series.

You brought illustration that is 50+ years past the period so of course I had objections. It's a Victorian illustration and they fucked with our historical perception almost worse than Hollywood. It's like bringing Bridgerton screenshot.

Also I would say that we don't see usually headwear outside only on 1) Strange (he is strange indeed)
2) Childermass (lower class and he was in distress / hurry in the scenes. Most of the time he has one)
3) and for some reason Lascelles (or the other one I confuse them), this one is really weird, he is almost allergic to hats.
4) Raven King. He isn't from the same period
All other characters have headwear outside.

You're right. I started watching the series last night and now I'm rewatching all 6 episodes. Seems pretty accurate so far.

There was a BBC1 Emma commentary where they discuss historical accuracy. It would be great if they made something similar here too.
