How do you cheer yourself up when you're in a bad mood?

Because I've been in a crappy mood all day and nothing's worked so far

My cat mostly. Either laughing at her antics or feeling happier just because she's settled herself on top of me, either way she massively improves anything and everything just by being there.

Other than that, I either pick a tv show or some music and just zone out and take myself to another world.

Put on upbeat music and dance or go for a walk. Sometimes I try and do something productive which takes my mind off things and makes me feel good when it's done.

Occasionally I full on wallow in that feeling, just a deep dive, and give myself a time limit to get it out of my system.

I pick one of those terrible movie romcoms on Netflix, put it on and laugh at it, or sometimes find them sweet and it can lift my mood, most of the time I’m making jokes at their expense though.

Or if I really can’t get out of my head I go for a walk with no destination in mind, the fresh air usually helps to make me feel less suffocated than when I’m wallowing indoors.

I usually put on a comedian I like. There's a specific video that always cracks me up.

I also watch cute animal videos or videos of animals helping each other. It depends what's getting me down. But a walk around and interacting (sometimes) with people that I will never see again or are outside of my head help me get out of my head.

One time I drew something that cheered me up, completely by surprise.

Usually watching old movies works for me but it didn't today. :(

Wait it out, usually mine last a week tops unless I just went through something really shitty.

Watch silly funny movies or shows. Cook favorite foods. Read just about anything that I enjoy and that holds my attention, to get out of my own head.

Retail therapy, if I can afford it, especially if I'm buying something to do (aka a distraction) a new book or dvd to read or watch, plants or seeds for my garden, cosplay supplies for a project, ingredients for a recipe, or whatever.

I hope you feel better soon, or at least figure out how to distract yourself until you do.

wallow it out.
let the bad mood run its course. if i try to force a good mood it mostly doesnt work and i get more annoyed. so i just accept it and go with it.

Depending what time it is in the day:

Going out to a nice brunch

Forcing myself to workout

Going for an aimless drive or walk and listening to a podcast/ music

Cleaning the house to distract myself / make my space nice

Nice takeaway

Hot shower, scrub and shave myself, comfy PJs, watch something mindless

Going to bed early. Tomorrow is another day!

Watch something that will make me cry or feel really strong feelings. Lately, watching Cinema Therapy has helped me a lot. I laugh, I cry, after watching one of their videos I feel like I just hung out with my friends' really understanding and funny (in a dad way) dads.

Watching comedies or movies/shows with people I like.

Unhealthy: binge eat, binge drink rec wine, binge watch reality TVs that I usually hate but that makes me feel superior because the actors are playing stupid charcters and dramas.

Healthy: take a walk, listen to some music and dance in my room, draw stuff, read a comic, take a nap.

It depends. But a little physical activity (a walk or bike ride), a little social activity (sending a text to a friend or getting a hug), a little self care (face mask or time with a foot massager), or a little self expression (craft project or tumblr post) helps.

But also sometimes I zone out and just play video games and don't do anything to improve my mood and just go to bed and hope I feel better in the morning.
