Huh. I don’t remember the robot being particularly “pedo.” Small and cute, yes, but adults can be that too.

The whole thing with the ghosts was weird, yeah. Very Zeroth Law. “It would harm humans to know that their fears are real, so it’s our job to manage them and prevent them from learning.”

Didn't fandom tell you? Small, cute adults are "child coded," so it's still pedo to be into them even though they're not children.

Oh come on. You have to be aware of the many instances of "well she looks like a 6-year-old but she's ACTUALLY 6000 so it's fine" especially in drawn/animated stuff.

I tend to not give manga creators much leeway, so to me, the robot wife being half the size of the human husband character, plus having very child-like facial and body features is enough for me. There are other human female characters, including the husband's sister, who look older than the wife. In a manga where you could draw the robot wife look a similar size and age to the main character, why not do that? No knocks against the writing of the manga because otherwise I did enjoy it and might pick it up again one day, but sigh/lol at the author for making his romantic lead "she's actually much older than she looks!" type of character.

Also, I'd be heartbroken to not have the truth that ghosts exist kept from me. Please just tell me that they do so I can have some spiritual closure. D:

Meant to reply above, whoops.

Also thank you, secret maker!

As an Asian woman who's gotten weird vibes from guys being fascinated with my age and telling me "you seem so young" yeah, I get why you don't give manga creators much leeway.

Like, even guys much younger than me seem to find it "hot" that I look young.

Maybe I'm sensitive to it because I feel the whole misogyny/patriarchal BS of a woman being small and submissive to a man being normalized and encouraged in so many Asian communities/cultures. Also, born and raised in a Western country, non-Asian guys, especially white guys, fetishize Asian women and our "youthfulness". Again, the whole submissive, demure girl who he can keep that way (and in his control) for as long as possible

A young looking robot character being sexualized. This is a very new concept to manga and anime, I am so surprised.

the one and only way i could maybe see this not being super creepy is if the tiny extremely young looking wife is shown to be not only smarter but physically stronger in every way than the husband and is also very clearly the dominant one in the relationship. that's the only way it subverts the small, young and subservient wife kept under her husband's thumb trope.
