Same with Amy and Clara later--especially Clara. Her time had its faults but man I had some kind of catharsis when she got to tell the Doctor that he did NOT get to make a similar choice for her.

If you're talking about the end of 'Face The Raven' I totally agree. That was a far better companion death, on her own terms but no less a tragedy.

That moment is also why I hate 'Hell Bent' so much. Having the Doctor find a loophole in that death to me totally negates the power of that moment and that choice.
