I'm still pissed about ST: Voyager because they went all amatonormative. Everyone had to be paired off, even if some of the ending couples rarely interacted generally, much less romantically, in the show.

OMG, yes. And, at least when it comes to Chakotay and Seven, the actors actually asked to be able to show feelings earlier, to try to make it work. But the showrunners said no.

I was out of the country during the latter half of the final season, came back just in time to watch the finale, and went "Huh?" over this relationship that came out of nowhere. I assumed I'd missed a lot of development and buildup, but when I borrowed a friend's tapes to catch up... nope, still felt like it came out of nowhere.

My hate for the ending made me read the novels that happen afterwards. Are they canon? No. Still they're MY canon for breaking up Chakotay and Seven lmao
