I kinda know what you mean. I think Spock/Uhura is cute and I don't have anything against it. I just don't really feel it. It just seems weird and out of place. *shrugs* Maybe it'll grow on me.

Saavik totally rocks. And I mean Robin Curtis Saavik. Somehow I never believed Kirstie Allen was the same character . . .

I'm the opposite, heh. I love Kirstie Allen Saavik, but Robin Curtis Saavik, ehh, she's all right.

Did you hear that Kim Catrell vulcan was originally written as Saavik, but then they decided to change the character?

I'm not sure Trekdom would have been happy with Saavik betrayal

I can't ship Spock/Uhura for the exact same reason I can't ship Spock/Saavik: I have a huge, huge, HUGE OMG teacher/student squick. I just can't get over it.

But I do think Saavik rocks so very much.

Just butting in to say: it was Parallel Universe, not time travel. Everything that happened in TOS and the first few movies still happened, just one universe over.

I'm glad you see it this way. This keeps me sane.

I'm thinking you didn't understand the alternate reality that the new movie created. Everything that happening in the original series and its movies still happened, because Older Spock lived through it once already.

Oh man, I was totally into Spock/Saavik when I was a kid. I was weirdly obsessed with Saavik for reasons that I now can't remember.

Hey, it's not like Spock and Uhura are necessarily destined to get married and have tons of babies. Anything could happen. Spock/Saavik is still a possibility in this universe.

I mean, I'm still all about the K/S/M, but whatevs.

What bothers me is that at the time of the movie, Saavik isn't born yet and with the death of 99% of the Vulcan population chances are she won't ever be born. Even if she does manage to come into existence, she won't be old enough for Spock for like 30 years. Do you really think they're still going to be making movies of these actors in 2039?

And, who says Spock has to marry Uhura anyway? This is why there is fanfiction.

I like Spock/Uhura, though.

If you're trek enough to remember Saavik, then you're trek enough to know about the miriad of alternate realities. (and Zarabeth, dammit)

Spock/Saavik still works fine in many other realities :)
