I guess OBVIOUS color isn't so obvious. Maybe that word, it does not mean what you think it means...?

Yeah, I've always been the opposite: "His eyes are GREEN, not blue!" But I think it's hard to say; they look different in different scenes.
Besides, it's interesting that you're bitching about his eye color and not pointing out that in the manga, his hair is referred to as brown. Does that hair look brown to you?
And let's not even get into poor Kankuro's hair color...

I think it was originally intended to be brown, like Chouji's supposed to be blond in the earlier parts of the manga. *shrugs* Now Kishimoto's making all the red-heads look like the have black hair in the black and white pages-- Karin, Nagato.

I actually don't care much one way or the other about the color. I just think it's hilarious when someone says something like, "It's SO obvious!" when other people don't agree with what's supposedly "obvious". If it's that head-smackingly "duh!" then wouldn't everyone agree? And if a significant portion of people don't agree, then doesn't that makes something not obvious?

Heh. Just be glad you don't have a canon that portrays one of the main characters with eyes ranging from brown through grey-green to emerald depending on the season and the episode, and another with eyes ranging from amber through brown to nearly black. Inconsistent coloring is the bane of many an animated show from before digital coloring.

We had that in Farscape. D'Argo's eyes went from green to blue because the make-up artist forgot to remove the green contacts before they took of the D'Argo make up, it got under the contacts and burned Anthony Simcoe's corneas and he refused to wear contacts again

If you get like this with that character, I'd like to see you trying to attribute a color to Kamui's eyes (from X by CLAMP). It seems not even the mangakas know his eye color, which changes from purple to blue...and is brown in the anime =/

I've always seen the Sand sibling's eye color as being green. With Gaara's being the lightest. And looking at that cap right there I say it can go either way. It's either a pale green or a light blue.

You're over-thinking it, bb. As others have said, when it comes to coloration, there really is no canon to adhere to. The anime colors a body any way they want during any given ep, and not even the frickin' mangaka can keep it straight, since he works with a black and white medium and doesn't strictly give a rat's ass about color.

If it bothers you that much... IDK, copy-paste the art and recolor it yourself to keep in your own personal stalker library of "CORRECT Gaara fanart." Then at least you can be happy.

We~ell, I would mind a lot more if Gaara's eye colour was a major thing about his character ... it's a whole different thing they changed Byakugan to orange or Sharingan to blue, or something. XD

Personal thing, but I think your secret would have had more credibility if you had a coloured manga image instead of an anime screenshot ... =/ Original sources, and all that ...
