Do people do this? I'm not sure I'd care if they did unless it was filling up a tag of just that character and not the ship, otherwise it's just kind of... a non-issue? A little annoying maybe but then just block them?

People do this a LOT. Sometimes more than one ship. Sometimes a whole unrelated character.

They've added diversity to the tag, and I appreciate them for it.

I don't! I don't go to the Character B or Ship A/B tags to see Character A by themselves! I don't wanna look up Mario and get Pikachu!

That sounds totally unnecessary and annoying and I can see why you dislike it. It's like someone filling the filing cabinet of a library with misleading descriptions for books that are actually about only 1/2 of what they claimed to be about.

If the artist has a single OTP involving that character, and a lot of their art does feature that OTP, then I don't mind at all. I get why it might bother some people, but it definitely doesn't bother me personally.

OTOH, if they are constantly tagging various ships, or god forbid more than one ship per art post, purely for "exposure," then yeah, I find that very annoying and will probably block them.

I actually report them as spam if I am annoyed enough and they have a wall of tags. Or block their ass.

yeah any time I see that, I block the account if I can. Especially if it's, like, the opposing ship. Just looking for drama.
