He's alright for the most part.

Willow is who I identified with, I liked computers and learning, and it's unfortunate that happens in schools filled with jerks. Giles is the mentor I wished I had, and Buffy is legit one of my favorite fictional heroes of all time.

Xander was funny and had a weird sense of humor, which I liked, but I didn't like his crush on Buffy. Willow was right there! And I thought the crush was too cliche to be interesting. In fact, it was boring as fuck. Hard pass.

Like I said before, Xander is my least favorite Scooby, and I could vibe with a lot of the complaints some fans had about him... in the beginning. Then as the years passed, and fandom became more divided, the vitriol got worse and worse. Until here we are today, and I can't watch a single goddamn Buffy TikTok without people spending thirty to ninety seconds shitting on Xander over the pettiest of shit. Over and over and over...

I don't bother with r/buffy because I already know day after day someone's going to derail a post that has nothing to do with Xander to shit on Xander. And they won't stop. And the moderators don't do anything when those people attack anyone who defends Xander, because nine times out of ten the mods are anti-Xander too.

I just want it to stop, or at least fucking chill for five fucking minutes. But it won't because these people have made it their mission to let everyone know what a piece of shit misogynist, abusive, incel Xander is. Because OMG! People need to know Xander is shit! Every. Fucking. Day!

Spike will never reach that level of being shat on. No other Buffy character will. Never.

Xander bashing is worse than Spike bashing, which barely exists in the natural world. It's offensive anyone thinks it's even close or matters. And hey, have a taste of what I have to put up with every single day I participate in Buffy spaces. Isn't it annoying? And I'm just one person. Imagine dozens, if not hundreds doing it constantly. Imagine.

I would have sympathized with you, if you didn't have this overriding need to claim you had it worse than anyone, and were the most deserving of attention, and bashed a real person who bothered to leave an entirely valid secret to do it. I don't care if people don't like Xander. I barely liked Xander for years. My gripe is this secret whined about a problem that doesn't exist anywhere but a very small part of fandom. So what one or two people called Spike a bad word on twitter? Where you can find people who hate Tom Fucking Hanks and Betty Fucking White.

Long after the show ended Spike's still one of the most popular Buffy characters.

Spike got to star in Angel and was this close to getting his own spin off after that ended because he's so popular. He's gotten three Spike comic book series. Other than Buffy herself, fanfic with him dominates fanfiction.

Spike is not hated, and it's that lie that's making flames come out the side of my face. And so, I'm going to call out the lie he is because I can. And I'll do it with a clear conscious because I'm not hurting anyone by doing it, and because. I'm. Right.

You have no idea what the OP is talking about, and the way you brought up your claims, they have zero incentive to tell us. You say that what they're complaining about is minor, but in fact, you don't know anything. Not about them, not about the friends they stayed quiet around, zip. You are assuming a lot, very self-righteously, and making a complete ass of yourself in the process.

Coming into a space where people tell each other about fictional things they care about, to yell at the secret maker, belittle, and insult them, is most certainly an attempt at hurting someone. You are parading around sheer aggression, and then claiming it's harmless. You're wrong, when you do all of this.

You got all these replies telling you we've no use for what you're doing because this was our way of expressing support for the OP, and for anyone else here who is occasionally beset by someone completely unreasonable. I commented to find out who I was dealing with, and then to make it clear that this behavior is neither appreciated nor allowed to stand unchallenged.

Initially, I was talking to you. You forfeited that by proving yourself unworthy of intelligent conversation. From there on, I was engaging for the benefit of other fandom!secret anons.
