And I fucking love both.

(Although I'll argue a little about Succession being grimdark. It's bleak as hell, but it's also fairly comedic. Or maybe my sense of humor needs a tweak. But "grimdark" to me means absolute joyless-ness, and Succession does make me laugh a fair amount.)

Agree. I feel like Succession is trying to be Arrested Development but ~prestigious~ instead of good.

Nah. There are two key distinctions between them, and neither has to do with "prestige".

One, Arrested Development was made by an American sitcom guy, and Succession was made by a British sitcom/dramedy guy.

Two, Arrested Development was made during and is of the Bush era, and Succession was made during and is of the Trump and post-Trump era.

This is one of those takes that's genuinely fun for a laugh, but the more seriously you take it the worse it gets. Like, yeah kind of, but also, no not really.

Both shows are absolutely fantastic IMO, in very different ways.

I disagree that Succession is grimdark though. I can see why some people feel it is, but I disagree.
