Gideon is the worst part of Mandalorian.

I also found him disappointing. I dunno, maybe it IS the voice, partly. He just sounds like someone's asshole manager, which is... a sort of villain, true. But not what I'd expect of a big space cowboy saga villain.

Aw, I really like him! Though, as with most SFF villains, the more we see of him the less cool he is.

I have never been GE's biggest fan (and did not watch Breaking Bad), so I say this without bias one way or the other: I think his ordinariness is the point, in an "anyone can be a Fascist/mediocre men often aspire to evil" way.

A character can have A Point and still not be compelling to watch, unfortunately.

Eh. If that is indeed the point - and I'm doubtful just because it sounds rather nuanced for Star Wars* - then it's like the other anon said. Sometimes even when something is purposefully ordinary, it's still not that interesting to watch.

* and honestly, if that truly was their point, I think they wouldn't been able to resist emphasizing that more. So your take sounds interesting (and I wish they'd done that!) but nah, I think they just tried and failed to make a compelling villain.
