I looked it up because I was curious.

October 10, 2022 - Kiwi Farms, formerly known as CWCki Forums (/ˈkwɪki/ KWIH-kee), is an internet forum that facilitates the discussion and harassment of online figures and communities. Their targets are often subject to organized group trolling and stalking, as well as doxxing and real-life harassment. These actions have tied Kiwi Farms to the suicides of three people targeted by members of the forum.

Did you hear about when people impersonating some trans woman called Keffals claimed she'd murdered her mother and was going to mass-murder people at city hall, and they got a SWAT team sent to her house? Those were Kiwifarms users. That was unusually direct by their standards, but it's not outside their typical style. Or their typical targets, for that matter. They really hate trans women and/or people who're open about being mentally ill.

Never heard of any of this. Kind of happy for my ignorance in this case

It's genuinely surprising to me that people who are online aren't familiar with that particular shithole at least by reputation

I spend a ton of time online, but had never heard of it. I guess it depends on where you hang out.

I think I've heard it mentioned on tumblr in passing, but I pretty much go on there mostly to look up fandom things so that's probably how I've missed it.

It happens. I was in my twenties before I ran into GuroChan (and its much darker cousin image board with photographs), and only poked at KiwiFarms earlier this year for the first time.

The stuff about how they manage to stay online is more interesting to me than the place itself, but the general consensus about which politics are commonsense is an odd mishmash of right and left that I think both parties would energetically repudiate.
