I know what you're talking about OP, so there are at least two of us who have watched this mess and been very confused by it afterward. I'm still not sure what the plot was, I don't think I can remember what happened. But I know I watched it.

We have a local theater that does a weekly Rocky Horror show (since 1978!) with actors on stage and everything. They did the same for Repo and it was awesome.

Zydrate comes in a little glass vial

I get this hook stuck in my head at the most random of times.

I remember being really excited to see this when it came out and then....just being kind of let down and confused and slightly embarrassed by it all?

I remember people talking about it, but it never played at any theater anywhere near me, so.....

Too weird seeing 'Giles' being all angsty murder-man, heh.

I've seen it several times and it did not make much more sense. All I know is that Zydrate comes in a little glass vial

And that it goes into the gun like a battery.

In a gun pressed against her anatomy.

I remember it being HUGE for, idk, six months or a year? I watched it but it just didn't click for me. I'm not a big musical person in general though.

No shade to anyone here posting lukewarm opinions, Repo! is kind of a mess, but it's breaking my heart that no one else is slamming in here saying how much they love this thing. I love this thing. It's pulpy, it's chaotic, it's hilarious, it's got the most delightfully fucked up family dynamics ("my brother and sister should fuck" made me spit the first time I was watching), the zydrate song people are referencing is definitely the catchiest but there are so many other ridiculous gore-spattered delights within the soundtrack, Anthony Stewart Head ramming his hand through some poor bastard's guts and using him as a mannequin so he can duet with himself is just EVERYTHING. Damn, it just has so much. (So much good? Maybe. Maybe not. But it has so much, and I would change nothing. ... well. almost nothing.)

Being a Repo! fan is a thankless job, but somebody's got to do it. Testify!

I LOVE Repo! I made so many of my friends watch it when I was younger (and most of them enjoyed it, the few that didn't were just "meh"). Anthony Head as a tortured torturer? Nivek Ogre as a face-stealing creep? Paris Hilton playing a hilarious version of herself? SARAH BRIGHTMAN as a blind corpse bride-esque popstar stepmother? Not to mention Terrance Zdunich, Alexa Vega, Bill Mosely, and Joan Jett... I will continue to enjoy Repo's camp silliness until my death, whenever that may be.

Joan Jett and Ogre are in this?!?!?!

(Anonymous) 2023-05-20 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I loved it! I'm the anon up-thread who got to see it with a live crew. I still think about it every once and a while, especially as we get more and more down into the abyss of late state capitalism. Only a matter of time before they start repossessing vital medical devices.

You've heard about the eye implants where the company went under, yes?
(For those who are learning about it for the first time: https://spectrum.ieee.org/bionic-eye-obsolete )

My wife and I will say literally anything with three syllables to the same tune of "surgery, surgery" to each other with very little provocation.

Our friends introduced us to it wanting us to seethe and hate it as much as they do and we LOVED it.

AYRT

It gets huge love in some corners of fandom! I haven’t seen it, just didn’t look like my kind of thing. But the ASH fandom is in love with this movie and I see gif sets from it all the time :)

I love Repo! the Genetic Opera

(Anonymous) 2023-05-20 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
There was a certain time when I'd re-watch it in a monthly rotation with Rocky Horror Picture Show and Shock Treatment.

I haven't watched in a few years, but I do still break out the film score every so often. Very fun to sing along to.

The plot is quite messy and the world-building is very weird, but I love the whole effect. And there are a few great voices in the cast

Oh man, I love this movie! Its so good even though its kinda bad. And yeah, the mix of people! Sarah Brightman, Anthony Steward Head, Paul Sorvino, Paris Hilton. The music is great too. Everybody everybody testify!

(Anonymous) 2023-05-20 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
People recommended me this musical for years and I wasn't in the mood for trashy fun. Especially since I don't get the appeal of Rocky Horror. And then I've decided to watch it, I learned that the author is a shitstain of a human being. So yeah, I've missided my chances to like it

(Anonymous) 2023-05-21 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I've tried to watch this thing several times and it's so fucking unnecessarily edgy that it tips over into cringe and I can't make it through the first half an hour

Ogre of Skinny Puppy?
